If you’re looking for a super cozy, family-friendly spot on the North Shore, United Strangers Coffee is such a win. They’re a cult favourite for moms in the neighborhood for a reason – tucked in the Dollarton area, this café has that perfect blend of community feel, good coffee, and thoughtful touches.
Inside, you’ll find a selection of warm, comfy seating (including a fireplace to cozy up by) with plenty of space to park a stroller, settle in for a snack, or sip your latte while your baby grabs a book from their rotating selection. The staff are friendly, the vibe is relaxed, and it’s the kind of place where everyone feels like a neighbour.
One of its most unique features is their consignment section, filled with secondhand baby clothes and kid items. They had used North Face, MEC, Patagonia, etc winter items in great condition at really good prices. United Strangers also boasts an impressive assortment of local, small business gifts — candles, treats, cards, pottery — making it a great spot to pick up a last minute white elephant present. The bathroom setup is made for parents: a full change-table–friendly washroom complete with a toddler potty, diapers, and wipes.
Every Tuesday, United Strangers hosts a parents meet up from 10-11am, and on some occasions has speakers to discuss sleep, caregiver mental health and more. It’s a casual walk in, non-judgemental setting to connect with other parents and little ones. So, whether you’re meeting another mom and some babes for a catch-up, grabbing a treat after a stroller walk, or looking for a welcoming indoor space on a rainy day, United Strangers Coffee is the play.
