playscape play cafe (riley park)

This neighbourhood favourite combines a coffee shop with specialty coffees and locally-made eats with a toddler-first designed indoor play space. It’s perfect for rainy days, winter break, or anytime you need to kill a wake window that both you and baby can enjoy. The best part is that price of admission comes with a free beverage from the café.

play features your little ones will love

The indoor play area at PlayScape Café features Physical Play, Imaginative Play and Sensory Play areas, including:

  • Climbing structures and soft play — ladders, slides and different levels for crawlers and walkers of all stages.
  • Kitchen play sets like a food truck, ice cream shop, pizza oven— perfect for imaginative cooking and pretend mealtime fun.
  • LEGO and train set play tables — great for creative builds and role play.
  • Interactive play spaces — engaging toys and sensory activities that keep kids exploring including an interactive floor projection system with rotating motion-active floor games.

The space is clean, bright and fully baby-proofed with cushioned floors and child-safe gates.

café + treats

While the play happens, parents can relax with coffee and a little treat. You can enjoy a latte with ethically roasted beans from local roasters, their made in-house sandwiches, or pastries from local haunts like (one of my favourites) Dalina and To Live For Bakery.

PlayScape also has security cameras displayed on big screens in the café to monitor your littles at all times.

location quick tips

  • There are big family washrooms with change tables and toddler-size toilets.
  • There’s no dedicated parking lot, so street parking is your best shot—try to arrive early to snag a spot on Main Street or nearby side streets.
  • Kids over 5 are also welcome to hang out in the café area which includes books and colouring.
  • If you have extra time, Riley Park and Playground are a short 5 minute walk West!

Whether you’re coming for a morning adventure or a midday play break, PlayScape Café is one of Vancouver’s most welcoming indoor play spots for babies and toddlers. We made friends with several mommies and nannies who recommended other fun spots around the city.
