Last week, Bruin and I checked out a hidden gem while stopping by some of my go-tos at Brentwood Mall (Whole Foods and Body Energy Club). Past Brentwood’s Rec Room, restaurants, and dining hall seating at TABLES on the second floor is Kids Corner: a small treasure of toys, books, and toddler seating. If you’re looking for a simple, weatherproof and transit-friendly outing with your baby, this is an easy win.
Between the cozy play space at TABLES, great coffee from SOON Coffee, and some of the best family bathroom facilities around, it’s a relaxed way to spend time out with your little one while running errands.
first, coffee
There’s a Starbucks if you want to order ahead, but I would suggest you start at TABLES with SOON Coffee, one of the most loved local cafés in Brentwood. It’s also native to Brentwood Mall, so try it while you have the chance.
SOON promises accessible pricing: one of the things locals appreciate most is their $2.50 drip coffee and $5 lattes. Their specialty coffee and tea slushies are the play for something different and refreshing.
You’ll catch other local favourites like To Live for Bakery and Doe Coffee in the pastry case, with freshly baked croissants, cookies, and more. Their branding is super cute, too. The purple and pink signage stands out in the food court.
then hit kids corner
Once you’re caffeinated with a sweet treat, head through TABLES to Kids Corner. You’ll find a surprisingly baby-friendly play setup with a cabinet full of toys and books, plus a few baby walkers that little ones love exploring. It’s not a full play gym, more like a casual play corner where babies can move around safely.
The layout is easy to navigate with a stroller, and the vibe is relaxed, perfect for a quick stop after some shopping. My little guy cruised around with the walkers for a good half hour!
bathroom stop
One of the biggest Brentwood perks is the excellent family facilities. You’ll find a family bathroom and a dedicated mother’s room with a bathroom, nursing station, and small play area for toddlers. Both have a luxurious amount of space, a changing table and small toilets and sinks for littles.
The moms that get it, get it—a good bathroom setup is paramount.
for the bigger kids: rec room
If you’re visiting with older siblings or kids, Brentwood has plenty to keep them busy too. The Rec Room is also on Level 2 with endless arcade and video games for older kids and families. Note: all guests under 19yo must be accompanied by their legal guardian.
Brentwood also runs a full event calendar and free outdoor lawn games on the plaza in the summer. You can check out their calendar here; there’s always something fun going on.
productive outing for littles and mom
Brentwood Mall is a great place to walk, play, feed, and reset with baby while you check things off your list—especially on days when outdoor plans fall apart. New restaurants and stores are popping up all the time, so make sure to pay Brentwood a visit.
