I started following Julie (@move.by.ju) early postpartum for her raw and real (not always successful) workouts with her babies in tow. I loved seeing and could relate to the uncurated struggles of finding the motivation to get started, then the attempts to finish reps with a baby who needs your attention.
Her 5-week PostPartum Foundations series fills up quickly but I got to join the May 2025 cohort MOVIN’ MOMMAS and it comeplety changed my relationship to my body and strength after childbirth.
The program is progressive — beginning with deep breathing and core activation, then building into functional strength and mobility. Every movement is designed to support the real-life demands of motherhood — lifting, carrying, and chasing little ones. Each class wraps up with a full-body METCON workout that leaves you sweaty, accomplished, and stronger than ever. Expect to use dumbbells, barbells, resistance bands, plyo boxes, and cardio machines like the Assault Bike, rower, and ski pull (SkiErg).
From day one, Ju creates a safe, supportive space. Each class begins with a check-in — a chance to commiserate over a rough night’s sleep or celebrate a new baby milestone. There’s zero judgment, zero pressure, just a connected group of moms all navigating the same trenches together. Ju even steps in as a part-time babysitter, scooping up fussy babies so the mamas can finish their workouts. She puts all the mamas in a WhatsApp group for session updates, recipe sharing and solidarity.
Details:
- The series runs 5 weeks Mondays & Wednesdays 10:30-11:30am
- Price: $340
- Perfect for mamas with babies under one, but toddlers are welcome too

There will also be drop-in sessions running all November if you want to try it out or can’t commit to the series. Sign up link
Quick tips:
- No need for a yoga mat, the floor at Hero Academy is padded
- Depending on the age of your little, bring toys, a play mat and/or snacks
- Bring a carrier to babywear for a weighted workout
- Some mamas left their babies napping in their car seat or stroller
- It’s a no judgement zone! Show up late if you need and in whatever form you can bring that day, take breaks, feed your baby
I cannot explain how empowering it was to feel confident pushing myself out of my comfort zone and lifting heavy with Ju’s guidance. If you’re a new mom craving some movement, fresh energy, and connection, MOVIN’ MOMMAS by Move With Ju is exactly what you need.
Hero Academy’s location is right in Lower Lonsdale, a short walk from the Shipyards, with plenty of parking, transit and post-class coffee shop options.
Note: Attendees should have medical clearance from their health care provider before joining class
