La Saison de Patisserie is a charming little gem for any mama and little who love beautiful desserts and French-style baking. The space is cozy and welcoming with lots of seating (including a high chair) and display cases full of speciality cakes, tarts, cookies, and seasonal treats that look almost too pretty to eat. Their pastries pair nicely with a coffee or matcha that you can enjoy inside or people watching with your little at an outdoor table.
La Saison’s homeyness is on display with their selection of hand-made greeting cards and locally made chocolates, as well as baby change-friendly bathrooms. You can check out their menu and/or schedule a pick up order here, including beautiful custom cakes for any event. They also have a loyalty points program where you earn 1 point for every $1.50 spent, and can redeem free treats.
Menu highlights:
- Matcha Croissant (their croissants have been named the best in Vancouver)
- Garlic Cheese Pull Apart
- Lavender Blueberry Peep (seasonal)
- Hojicha Latte or Matcha Latte (a personal favourite)
- Any of their Handcrafted Chocolate Truffles
It’s a popular spot for a drink and little treat after Babytime at the Renfrew Branch of the Vancouver Public Library which is just a 5-minute stroll down E22nd St. It’s the perfect pairing for a mom-and-baby outing: grab a pastry and coffee, then wander over to the library for a storytime session. The Renfrew Library is known for having one of the best play areas for babies in the city, so make sure to make time for some exploring with educational toys, motor development displays, a light up wall and more.
Babytime is every Monday 11-11:30am and 1:30-2pm and includes songs, dancing and stories (recommended for newborns > 18m).
Renfrew library pro tips:
- A library card is not required for your visit, but I recommend signing your little one up for their own Juvenile Library Card (a piece of ID for you and baby is needed upon sign up). The Juvenile cards aren’t subject to restocking fees if you lose or damage a book!
- You can rent instruments, toys, etc with your library card. Ask your librarian!
- You can return your books to any Vancouver branch.
- Behind the library is Renfrew Community Park with toddler and kid playground structures, swings and a wading pool in the Summer.
